Galapagos 3 Days: Adventure
Day 1: Visit to Charles Darwin Research Station
The flight from Quito or Guayaquil to the Galapagos Islands takes approximately 2½ hours. Our Naturalist Guide will pick you up from Baltra airport to start your amazing adventure. Transferred by bus to the Itabaca Channel, where a 10 min ferry will take us across to Santa Cruz Island where we travel by car to the main town and your hotel for the evening in Puerto Ayora. Don’t forget to look out for Giant Tortoises during the journey!
In the afternoon, you will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. Founded in 1959, this Center is a must see for every visitor to the islands. A Centre for scientific research and environmental education, the infamous Lonesome George can be seen here along with hundreds of young tortoises bred for future release across the islands.
Take the rest of the evening to enjoy the sights and sounds of this seaside town.
Day 2 : Visit to Tortuga Bay (morning) + Las Grietas (afternoon)
After breakfast we will venture to Tortuga Bay where sea lions and marine iguanas basking can be seen on the sand while white sharks and tropical fish can be seen under the water with a snorkel. We return to town, in the afternoon we will prepare for our next adventure touring the bay with our snorkels before heading back to land and walking up to Las Grietas, a favourite for swimmers and free divers alike, where you can cool off in this beautiful natural pool dwarfed by rocky cliffs on either side.
Head back to town and enjoy free time.
Day 3 : Highland + Transfer out
After breakfast get prepared to get up close and personal with wild Santa Cruz Giant Tortoises in their natural highlands habitat as we visit ‘Rancho Primicias’. Following this we will venture underground into the lava tunnels and visit Los Gemelos (the twin craters) before heading back to the airport for your onward journey.
